Inclement Weather Update
Good afternoon Cobra Families! Based on the message from our district office, Southern Nash Middle will operate on remote learning days on Wednesday, February 19th and 20th. This remote learning setting is different from the one in January. We will have a synchronous schedule for students to meet with their teachers. The schedule has been emailed to the students and is posted on canvas. Each teacher will have their class link in their CANVAS or Rooms course. Please continue to be safe and communicate with your child’s teachers. Have a great evening! Sonya Horton

Due to this week's weather conditions, there are changes to the tryout schedule. Only baseball and cross-country will have tryouts this week, and athletes should bring both indoor and outdoor gear, as tryouts may be held indoors due to the high chance of rain. Baseball tryouts are scheduled for February 12-14 from 3:30 to 5:30 PM, with players dropping off their bags in the snakepit in the morning and reporting to the locker room at dismissal. Cross-country tryouts will also take place from February 12-14, from 3:30 to 5:00 PM, with athletes reporting to the auxiliary gym. Softball tryouts have been postponed to February 19-21, from 3:30 to 5:30 PM, with players reporting to room 603. Girls' soccer tryouts will also be held from February 19-21, from 3:30 to 5:15 PM, with athletes reporting to room 206 at dismissal. All tryouts are closed to spectators, and parents must remain in their cars.

This is a message about the remote learning day for SNMS. Students should look for an asynchronous assignment in Canvas for each class and an office hour for questions and check-in with their teachers as needed tomorrow.

Thursday, January 23, 2025 will be a Remote Learning Day for all of Nash County Public Schools (NCPS). Remote learning assignments may be accessed through Canvas, Google Classroom or other communication from your child’s teachers or principal. Office hours will also be offered by teachers if permissible. Please look for detailed information in Rooms and/or your student’s learning management system. NCPS has procedures in place to ensure students are not negatively affected if they are unable to complete tasks due to a lack of technology, power, or other challenges. If you have any questions, please contact your student’s teacher(s). Friday, January 24, 2025: All NCPS schools will operate on a two-hour delay due to the potential for icy road conditions. Breakfast will be available at schools. Students may be dropped off 40 minutes prior to the start of their school day. Essential personnel should report at their regular time, provided it is safe to do so. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation as we prioritize the safety and success of our students.
