NASHVILLE, N.C. — Nash County Public Schools (NCPS), in partnership with the Boys and Girls Clubs of the Tar River Region, has been awarded a Cohort 17 21st Century Community Learning Centers (21st CCLC) grant totaling $1,476,543 over three years. NCPS was one of only eight recipients in the region, chosen from a pool of 33 applicants.

The Nita M. Lowey 21st Century Community Learning Center grants, authorized under Title IV, Part B, of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) and amended by the Every Student Succeeds Act of 2015, provide federal funding to establish or expand community learning centers. These centers aim to offer three key services: targeted academic support, quality enrichment experiences, and family engagement opportunities during out-of-school hours.

The grant will fund after-school and summer programs for selected students at Nashville Elementary, Bailey Elementary, Middlesex Elementary, and Spring Hope Elementary.
